Welcome to 2020 Lake Roaders!

It’s been a rocky start to 2020.

Summer is only beginning and we have already seen very harsh conditions.

Our hearts go out to all the families impacted by these terrible fires.

We also lament the loss and injury to the animals both domestic and wild that have been caught up in the fires.

Fishing

On a happier note. the staff who have had the opportunity to get some time off before the fires started in earnest spent their time on the water, both close to home and over on the coast. Fishing was a popular pastime with a pseudo fishing competition taking place among the staff!

Who won?

Christmas Spoils!

The staff who worked before Christmas were lucky, they got to share in this very scrumptious Christmas Chocolate Cake!

Mmmm lucky them!

Christmas Street Party

Here are a few photos taken at the street party. Check the blog next week for a few more. The Santa photos will be put up on Facebook as soon as we can get them done.

Animal Evacuation Centre

Our vets and nurses have been helping out at the Evacuation Centre at the Showground over the last few days. In the extraordinary heat they monitored animals and assisted in transporting them to more appropriate settings.

They will continue to put in shifts where they can between managing their normal shifts, which now includes the care of sick and injured wildlife and pets too ill to remain in evac centres, and looking after their own families.

Assisting Lake Rd Vet

We would like to thank everyone for the kind donations we have received during this tragic bush fire emergency. We now require assistance for the specialised treatment of the injured wildlife and displaced companion animals in our care. We are preparing for a large number of patients over the coming weeks.

We specifically need medications, specialised formulated diets particularly Wombaroo products and critical care diets as well as rehabilitation and pathology equipment for critically ill patients.

If you wish to contribute our equipment supply call the Lake Road team on 69224659 or via direct deposit;

Account Name; Lake Road Veterinary Hospital

Don’t forget to pop in ‘Bushfire’ in your description so every contribution goes straight patients in need.
